Expert Sewing Tips for Heavy Canvas

1. Needle Choice: Standard sewing machine needles will snap on 400gsm canvas. You must use a Heavy Duty (Jeans/Denim) Needle size 100/16 or 110/18 to punch through the thick weave.

2. Thread: Pair your heavy fabric with a heavy-duty polyester or upholstery thread to ensure your seams do not burst under tension.

3. Pre-Washing: As this is an untreated 100% cotton fabric, it will shrink significantly on its first wash (often up to 10%). If you plan to wash your finished item (like a slipcover), you must pre-wash and dry the fabric before cutting your pattern.
